It's a busy few weeks for the MLA in Midland. Blaine Pedersen's making the rounds, as he conducts a ten town tour throughout his constituency. He stopped in St. Claude and Treherne on Friday, and says the tour provides an informal venue for residents to discuss what matters to them.

"It's very informal, just a meet and greet with coffee and cookies, to listen to these local constituents, their concerns or questions, whether it's local issues or provincial issues, and it's just a matter of touching base with them."

He says while MLAs always work to be in their communities, these sessions provide a great avenue for constituents to voice their concerns or ask questions.

"I find it's just a really good exercise to be in the communities. As MLAs you try to be in your communities as much as you can, but this is where you actually sit down, take time to listen to constituents and appreciate them taking time from their busy days to come and bring their particular concerns or just ask questions in general."

Pedersen says many of the people he's met with appreciate the opportunity to discuss provincial or local matters, especially in a face-to-face format rather than over the phone. Pedersen says his ten town tour will wrap up mid-February.
