The Portage and District Hospital Foundation has accepted an impressive $52,024.00 donation from the 2024 Pink Ladies Snow Ride for the Cure event. Pink Ladies committee member Tammy Hammersley says this year's funds will bring their cumulative total to $376,000.00 raised since the first ride. She extends her thanks to the new and existing committee members who worked hard to ensure there were plenty of sponsors and things ran smoothly. The Pink Ladies accommodated the lack of snow this year by swapping their snowmobile ride for a horse-drawn sleigh ride, and Hammersley say while their event was smaller this year their outcomes remained substantial.

"To our committees, our friends, our family, the registered riders, our sponsors—to everybody who contributes to our 'Pink Ladies Snow Ride for a Cure' I can't say thank-you enough. Everybody is always there to support us."

Portage and District Hospital Foundation Executive Director Tara Pettinger applauds the Pink Ladies for their extensive volunteer efforts calling them a consistently enthusiastic and committed group.

"To have these kinds of community groups continuing to do these events and helping the Foundation and hospital enhance healthcare in our community, it's just something that's really invaluable. So many people are going to benefit from this. We just can't thank the Pink Ladies enough for this unreal donation."

Pettinger explains the funds will be used locally for breast health initiatives.
