While Pharmasave has been established in Portage la Prairie since 2020, they were able to hold the celebration they never had, after they finished expanding their space. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a proper grand opening was never held.

Their reopening was held on June 15, exactly four years since opening day. Owner Caitlin Giercke says they've been working on renovations for the past 18 months. With the added space, they've brought in tons of new inventory, including some items that you wouldn't expect from a pharmacy, like bed sheets.

"The sheets came about when I went to a conference in Ottawa to see a bunch of different suppliers and lines," explains Giercke. "The extra space has allowed us to do so much more in the store."

While it's fun to marvel at all the new fun items, Giercke understands that they're still primarily a pharmacy and is excited to use the enhanced space in that way.

"When you walk in our front door, the first thing you see is the pharmacy gals in the dispensary, we did that on purpose," notes Giercke. "Our shelves are lower so that the first thing you see is our smiling faces."

With a larger space and a more diverse selection on the shelves, Giercke hopes to continue serving the community for many more years noting opening up a new business during the height of Covid was extremely stressful at times.
