United Way Central Plains is no more, but that doesn't mean that United Way will be leaving the Portage la Prairie area.

United Way Brandon & District will now serve the Central Plains region following the end of United Way Central Plains as of last Wednesday.

According to a release from the organization, they intend to hire local staff to work out of an office in Portage, and their goal is to have the office open in the middle of August.

"Brandon & District is committed to a 'All Dollars Raised Here - Stay Here' approach and any monies raised in our region will be invested back into programs and services right here in our community," notes the press release.

Brandon & District will also recruit a volunteer advisory committee from the Portage community to assist with fundraising and decide where the locally raised dollars are invested.
