The Portage Collegiate Institute (PCI) Trojans baseball team performed well enough to earn a spot at the Zones competition on Tuesday.

The Trojans took on Sanford in their first contest, which saw PCI dominate in a 10-0 win, leading to a faceoff with Morden in the semi-final.

Tyler Olson pitched and played both shortstop and second base with the team this season, and said before the semi-final, he believes the tournament setup gave them a chance to move on.

"We've got a strong team this year, we're 7-4-1 going into Zones. We got set up in a pretty good spot to start off Zones, which will hopefully get us further into it."

Morden would take the victory in their next matchup, however, 10-3, which would end PCI's season.

Tyler Olson pitched and played both shortstop and second base with the team, and said it was a good year for the squad.

"We have lots of leaders on this team, but lots of younger guys stepped up this year, really showed us what they have and earned spots in the lineup. They played a big spot for us."
