The RM of Coldwell Council's reviewing its motor vehicle regulation by-law.

Reeve Brian Sigfusson says it's in response to issued caused by people driving 4x4's or quads on private property.

"And just making a horrible mess of peoples' property, or lack of respect, you call it, or whatever. So we're going to have to make it a little tougher, I guess. And a lot of people won't write a complaint on the people because they're scared of repercussions on their own kids. And the RCMP won't do anything unless we make a written complaint, and sign it."

Sigfusson says the problem's extensive, so Council wants to put some teeth in the by-law.

"We have to make it a little bit tougher for these kids to get away with it. You can't drive on somebody's property, wreck all his stuff, and think you can get away with it. We're asking the RCMP if they catch them, to take their licence or impound the truck for a month. When you lose something for a while, it makes people sit up and take notice."

Sigfusson thinks Council might begin the by-law review at their next meeting.
