The Portage la Prairie Soup Kitchen put on an early Thanksgiving meal last Monday. Coordinator Margaret Dunn outlines the event.

"It was a day where we had four of five volunteers who put together a delicious meal. There was turkey and vegetables and a pumpkin pie as well as a lemon pie. Apparently the hall looked very nice. About seventy-two people came to eat and I think they all had a good time. I heard it went very well."

Dunn notes the number of people in attendance was higher than normal, motivating them to search for more volunteers.

"You probably can't have too many volunteers. It would be nice to have so many you don't have to call on them all the time. It is a time commitment of between 10 in the morning to about one in the afternoon. We are open five days a week, Monday to Friday. We are closed on holidays, for instance it will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. If you have questions about it you or you want to get involved you can call me."
