The Portage la Prairie RCMP are recommending security cameras as they continue to offer tips to prevent crime as the weather warms up.
Inspector Paul Peddle says it's not as difficult in 2023 to acquire one.
"People shied away from them in the past just because of the cost, but they've gotten a lot cheaper now," says Peddle. "There's all kinds of options."
He says it's harder for a criminal to get away with something if they are caught, clearly, on camera. He says a criminal noticing the camera can deter them in the first place.
"There's no better evidence for the police," says Peddle. "If something were to happen than to have a video or a clear photo of the incident that took place."
There will be another technology-based tip this afternoon.
