If you're a prospective homeowner in Portage la Prairie, there's an opportunity to move into a home that's currently being completed.

The Family Selection Committee for Portage Habitat for Humanity is gearing up for an information night this Wednesday. It's taking place at the Family Resource Centre, and they're looking for a family to move into one of two houses.

Committee member Norman Collier says they want potential homeowners to come and learn all about the chance to have their own home.

"Our goal, really, is to explain the Habitat application process for anybody who may be interested," says Collier. "Anyone who thinks that they might qualify for a Habitat for Humanity home in Portage is certainly welcome to attend. We will go through the application process, the criteria, and we'll talk about the mortgage, the sweat equity, and the selection process in the end. We'll explain how long it will take and what stages we go through."

One family has already been selected and they're looking for their second family, and you could be the one.

"We have two lots on 10th St. NW," notes Collier.

If you'd like to learn more, the evening begins at 7:00 p.m. and will last for about an hour.

"There's lots of opportunity for questions as part of the presentation," adds Collier. "The applications will be available beginning that evening."

For those unable to attend and still interested, you can get an application form from the Portage Family Resource Centre.
