It's been months in the making, but the Municipality of Rhineland has started moving into the renovated former North American Box plant building in Plum Coulee.

"The Plum Coulee and Rhineland maintenance shops have now moved into the location on Railway Avenue," explained Reeve Don Wiebe. "What this means is the vacant buildings are now for sale, and council decided to put them up for public tender. The police offices, which will also be moving soon, as soon as the fiberoptic cable connection is there."

Meanwhile, Gretna residents will soon see activity at the town's arena which recently received $798,000 from the federal government through its Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program to support a wide variety of updates.

"After that announcement about the support for the arena, we've started the process," said Wiebe. "Our administration is meeting with Associated Engineering to outline the scope of the work, the tender documents and the timeframes."

And with Spring weather finally here to stay, a variety of road projects are underway, or soon set to start, in the coming weeks in the Municipality of Rhineland.

"The graveling program is well underway, and that's good news, and the dust control applications will follow," noted Wiebe. "Priority Grain Roads projects are about to resume. This includes a concrete road at the Rhineland West Ag Park, and also the installation of tile drainage along the priority grain roads is also scheduled to start."
