The city of Portage la Prairie is expanding its options for citizens to pay their bills. City Councillor Brent Budz says they've approved the implementation of e-statements, as demand has been increasing recently.

Budz notes the use of e-bills will cut down on costs for the city. "We do send out over $19,000 per year in just utility bills alone," says Budz.

To entice people to sign up for paperless bills, Budz says you can enter a contest to win one of three prizes that promote Stride Place. The contest will run until the end of December.

The city recognizes the necessity of the new service. "We realize that people's time is valuable," says Budz. He notes that this expands the options for people who don't have time to run down to city hall.

Budz says the e-billing service should be up and running very shortly.

A contest will be held from September until the end of December promoting Stride Place with a first, second and third prize.
