The PCI Trojans football club's first day of training camp was yesterday.

The biggest change from last season was the arrival of their new -- and former -- head coach Brent Irwin, as previous coach Stephen Fedus left for personal reasons. Irwin led the Trojans during their first 7 years as a team, and is excited to be back at the helm. Irwin says it's tough to tell how the team will be as a whole so early into the year, but there were a lot of positives.

"I'm impressed with the talent that I've seen here, and the attitude. Sometimes attitude is an even bigger asset than talent so I'm excited."

One of those talented players is 17-Year-Old Gage Foster, who spent some time with Team Manitoba this summer at the Canada Cup. Foster gives his thoughts on the upcoming season.

"It's a new coach, so we're going to have to get used to that system of coaching, the whole offense and everything. And if everyone buys into the system, we'll have a good season."

Irwin says they want to build a strong structure of accountability for each player by strengthening their knowledge of the game.

"If we can do it at less than game speed -- at half-speed -- and they feel comfortable and know their responsibilities then it's their responsibility to be the best teammate they can by knowing their responsibilities and executing them."

The Trojans are practicing again tonight, and a full roster should be picked by September.
