The Rural Municipality of Woodlands wants to see students at Woodlands School have a lot more fun, safely.

Council recently supported the school's application for a new play structure. Reeve Douglas Oliver says it's all a part of the granting process, and they're happy the school is getting involved.

"We put out a letter of support for their fundraising, the parent advisory committee," says Oliver. "It's an ongoing project, to upgrade all the play structures and other necessary things, that they need in the Woodlands schoolyard that have been deteriorating and taken away over the years because they're in disrepair."

Reeve Oliver says they have received more grant applications this year than usual and that's great news for the community.

"Everyone is focused on getting out there, fixing hockey rink boards, baseball upgrades to their diamonds (in Warren)," says Oliver. "They are all looking at getting their facilities improved because everyone wants to get going since COVID."

The Reeve is also looking at walking paths for the whole community. The RM of Woodlands council meets twice per month.
