With the warmer weather, comes many events all across the Central Plains. The municipality of North Norfolk will see events hosted in Austin, MacGregor, and other nearby areas.

Recreation Director and Facility Manager for Heartland Rec Karla Gurke says they are making sure there will be something to do all summer long.

"People just seem to be happier now. They want to go out. They want to do things. They want to be part of something, so people are just out and about," says Gurke. "You see a cloudy day and everybody's kind of got a frown, but today, with the sun, it's gorgeous."

She notes some big garage sales are planned throughout the various communities. There is bull riding going on in June, with the MacGregor Fair is set for June 23rd to the 25th.

Gurke adds they were working hard to open the MacGregor Golf Course on May 8th and to also make sure walking paths were ready to go.

"The golfers in town will be extremely happy," says Gurke. "Just being able to get out and go for a bike ride or go for a walk with your kids is huge."
