A plant breeder at the University of Manitoba has received a prestigious international award.

Dr. Rob Duncan, associate professor in the Department of Plant Science, was awarded the Early Career Scientist Award by the National Association of Plant Breeders (NAPB) at its annual meeting earlier this month.

Duncan, who hails from Miami, Manitoba, is the leader of the Brassica Breeding Program at the University of Manitoba.

The award recognizes a scientist in the early stages of their career who exhibits the ability to establish strong research foundations, to interact with multi-disciplinary teams, and to participate in relevant professional societies.

Along with the other NAPB award recipients, Duncan will present at the next annual meeting, to be hosted by the University of Guelph in August of 2018.
