The Portage Rotary Club received a visit yesterday from Rotary District 5550 Governor Peter Neufeldt who also took a tour throughout the city to see the many Rotary projects we enjoy. He speaks of his reaction to Rotary Republic Park and Island Park.

"Certainly a very inviting park with indoor stuff and outdoor stuff -- a variety of things for children to do and for families too," says Neufeldt. "It really looked very, very good. I was impressed with all the things Rotary is involved with here, partnering."

He notes, from the park to the proposed assisted living facility, there's a broad spectrum with everything in between. Neufeldt adds Stride place is a great example of the community and Rotary working together, noting nobody can do it alone. He says partnerships are the key for good community and success, and it's proved by an impressive community centre like Stride Place.

Neufeldt saw the BDO Centre close to where the proposed Central Park will be located, the grounds for the upcoming assisted living facility near the Portage Clinic, as well as the island tennis courts that are currently undergoing resurfacing.
