The Portage Terriers wrapped up the first weekend of December with another win over the OCN Blizzard. After blowing out the Blizzard 7-2 on Saturday night, it took until the last minute of play on Sunday for Portage to pull out a 4-3 victory.

The night was a penalty filled affair with both teams finishing 1/7 on the power play. The Terriers got the first goal on the man advantage midway through the first period when Hayden Lacquette scored his 9th of the season. The Blizzard responded quickly from Drayden Kurbatoff to tie the game at 1.

In the second frame, OCN took their first lead of the night after Riley Zimmerman banged in a rebound at the side of the net. Portage responded with two straight goals to regain the lead before the period ended. Noah Wagner and Slade Stanick both found the back of the net. With time about to expire in the middle frame, the Blizzard snuck one in with 0.4 seconds left on the clock to send the teams to the dressing room tied.

The third period was tight with both teams getting chances on the power play.  Late in the game, the Blizzard turned the puck over and Matt Wisener scored the winner a short-handed breakaway with 33 seconds left. Netminder Bailey Monteith shut the door the rest of the way to pick up his ninth win of the year while finishing the night with 30 saves.

It was the Dog's 20th win of the season and they are now 2nd in the standings, 3 points behind Steinbach. The team will host Dauphin on Wednesday and travel to Winkler on Friday.
