With 14 wins and a pair of shutouts helping guide the Portage Terriers to third in the MJHL's East Division, Jayden Catellier is focused on helping the Dogs improve playoff positioning.

To this point in the season, Catellier has a save percentage of 0.919, which puts him in the top five for MJHL goalies. Catellier says coming into this year, he wanted to make sure he had a good head on his shoulders in low scoring games.

"You don't want to be consistently needing to win games 4-3," explains Catellier. "There's going to be those tight games come playoff time where they're 2-1 or 1-0. I'm just trying to do my share for the rest of the guys."

He credits previous Terriers and current head coach Blake Spiller for creating a winning atmosphere for the team.

"Coming in as a veteran, you have to lead the way, you can't slack off," notes Catellier. "You need to lead the others because eventually they'll be in that position too."

Throughout the first portion of the year, Spiller was getting closer to breaking the record for most wins in the MJHL by a head coach, so he found extra motivation to help him achieve the milestone.

Catellier will try to help the Terriers add another win to the pile when they take on the Steinbach Pistons on Friday, January 19th.
