After a strong season for Manitoba Agriculture's Stock Talk, the virtual webinars are going to return.

Forage and Livestock Specialist Shawn Cabak says the events began during the pandemic as a way to keep producers connected, but the sessions have continued even after restrictions were lifted. Cabak reflected on the most recent webinar, saying it was well-attended.

"Stock Talk had its last session in mid-April. We covered 'origin pasture management making grazing records work for you', we looked at annual forages for green feed silage and grazing, as well as passion management tips," says Cabak. "Overall, I think Stock Talk went well. It gives producers the opportunity to hear about different forage and livestock topics from the comfort of their home."

Cabak adds recordings are made available after the event and they were well-watched. They do not yet have a schedule for the next edition of Stock Talk, but Cabak knows producers will appreciate the topics they tackle.

"Yeah, we're planning to bring it back in the late fall, early winter, and look at different topics of interest for producers," says Cabak. "It's another extension tool for producers to learn more about livestock and forage production."

Stock Talk ran from December to April.
