The first month of 2023 is in the books and our local weather observer has crunched the numbers.

While 2022 started very wet, 2023 was much different. For the first-half of January, only 0.8 millimetres of precipitation was recorded. For the latter-half, he counted 6.3mm, for a monthly total of 7.1mm.

The high average temperature for January was -8.5 while the low average was -16.5. Of the 31 days of the month, Romance says we had 19 mornings with frost, including two (13th and 18th) with hoar frost. Most of these days took place during the latter half of the month as the first-half only saw three days of frost.
