The Ides of August was a busy day for Portage la Prairie RCMP. On August 15th, a theft occurred during a break and enter of a shed in the 100 block of 5th St NW and a bicycle was stolen along with a hydraulic floor jack and pressure washer.

Another call came in that same day about the previous evening when a homeowner on Highway 26 prevented a theft of his ATV by having an alarm in his buildings. The alarm alerted him that someone was in the building and he turned on exterior lighting, scaring the culprits away.

His ATV had been targeted unsuccessfully.

They received another call a short distance down the road where the suspects successfully stole a Polaris Ranger. The two men left behind two very expensive bicycles. It is believed they were likely stolen.

If you can describe the two bicycles or show proof of ownership, or have any information about the break and enter on 5th St NW, call the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445.

The RCMP continues to investigate.
