Give Prairie Players a standing ovation now that they have finished their spring production.

Audiences packed the Glesby Theatre last week for Jack of Diamonds, the latest show from the local theatre group. President Rosa Rawlings says Portage la Prairie came out to support the actors, who put in so much work.

"We had pretty good crowds all three nights. The cast was just fantastic. We really chose the perfect cast. I just can't imagine anybody else playing those parts now after all these months," says Rawlings. "They did such a phenomenal job getting their characters established because it's a very funny play to begin with, and then they just really made it even better."

Actors on stage

Rawlings was very thankful for the community as their engagement creates electricity that can be felt by the cast. She thanks everyone who supported this show and those who continue to support local theatre.

"When you're on stage, and you hear the laughter, you get the energy from the audience and then it makes you want to even do better," says Rawlings. "Everything was really good about it."

The group is planning something for their fall production, but no details are being revealed just yet. Prairie Players meets on the second Tuesday of every month, from September to May. Their next meeting is May 9th at 7:30 at the Glesby Theatre in the green room. Rawlings says you enter through the green stage door on the west side.

If you cannot make it to a meeting, but you still want to get involved, you can contact any current member. Prairie Players hopes to see you on stage this fall.
