Rosa Rawlings is set to lead the Prairie Players for the next two years.

The Portage la Prairie-based community theatre group recently held their Annual General Meeting and Rawlings ran unopposed for the role of President. Rita Carignan was re-elected as Vice-President while Haley L'Heureux and Stephanie Kauffman will serve as members-at-large.

"We hadn't had an AGM since February of 2020 and then, of course, COVID hit," says Rawlings. "So, we didn't do anything until now."

The group has been busy once pandemic restrictions were lifted, as they put on 'Steel Magnolias', which was well-received by the community. Rawlings says they continue to look into the future and they are excited for their next big show.

"We're doing really well during our rehearsals right now for Jack of Diamonds, and we already have a play lined up for the fall," says Rawlings. "It's looking good. We always want to think ahead. We always want to be ahead and not scrambling at the last minute, trying to figure out what to do."

Jack of Diamonds hits the William Glesby Centre from April 27th to the 29th.
