Portage la Prairie RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in a case on Sunday involving a suspicious vehicle.

At 1:30 a.m. on May 5, a Portage RCMP officer, while on patrol, spotted a vehicle travelling on Tupper Street North without headlights. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop. However, the driver chose to evade, speeding off at a high rate.

This vehicle was found a short time later in a field at the end of Home Street. Police checks did not show the vehicle as being stolen at this time. Officers attended the registered owner's residence, and the owner was unaware that their vehicle was gone.

The automobile was towed and secured until the RCMP Forensic Team could examine it.

The RCMP is requesting the public's help in their investigation of this suspicious vehicle incident that occurred on May 5 at 1:30 a.m. If anyone has any footage of individuals walking in the area of Home Street at that time, please contact the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445.
