The new literacy coordinator at the Portage Learning and Literacy Centre wants to promote lifelong learning.

That's why Carole Didyk got involved with the centre after moving to Portage in January from Swan River where she worked at the adult learning centre.

She was the director and instructor there, and that's why Didyk is no stranger to the job at hand.  She says the models followed in the two centres are similar.

Didyk started earlier this week and expects busy days ahead -- she'll act as a case manager and will also be instructing.

She holds a sense of urgency in promoting the program, saying too many people are unaware of what the centre offers.
