A lot has been said about the medical-marijuana plant set to move into a building on Fisher Avenue East in Portage la Prairie. City Council is set to consider re-zoning and bestowing a conditional-use permit for the old Winnipeg Pants & Sportswear building at the next city council meeting happening February 24th at City Hall. This means, by the end of the month, the project could be underway. The company, Medical Manitoba Green Inc., is one of only 6 of its kind licensed in Canada so far. It will also be the first medical-marijuana plant in the province. There are strict rules and regulations and stringent security in place, but once the deal is rubber stamped and the company moves into the last phase of approval with Health Canada, expect the $1-Million renovations to begin. Some say that it may even become one of the most secure buildings in the city. The facility is being treated like any other Health Canada pharmaceutical operation.

What are Portagers saying about this? A debate was sparked on the Facebook Fanpage when the story was first released earlier this week. See what's being said and have your say.
