The boy's basketball teams at MacGregor Elementary School (MES) achieved a remarkable feat by clinching last week's Pine Creek School Division (PCSD) divisional basketball championship.

There was an increase in interested players, leading to two teams being sent out for the tournament. One team was comprised of Grade 8 boys and the other Grade 7.

Led by their dedicated players and coaching staff, MES's Grade 7 boys showcased their talent and teamwork throughout the season, culminating in a victory over the William Morton Collegiate Institute (WMCI) Warriors.

Principal Bryan Marriott expressed his pride in the team's accomplishments.

"Our grade seven boys played a super awesome match against the WMCI Warriors and ended up beating them." Marriott explains, "It was a great game for both teams. Our boys played good defensive basketball, and it worked out for us. The final ended up being MES versus MES. So, that was pretty cool."

Despite the eventual victory of the grade eight-team, the entire MES community celebrated the collective success of both teams, emphasizing the invaluable experience gained by all players.

"I just want to thank the staff for helping." Marriott continues, "Chipping in to ref and coach, because we host a lot of tournaments here, and I know that makes the school day busy. In the end, it's all worthwhile to see our kids do so well. We're very proud of them all."
