May Building Report: nearly $8 million in permits approved

Three new double residential permits brought the bulk of May's permit value according to the combined totals.

The Portage la Prairie Planning District has released the combined permit totals for May 2024, which lists approved permits from both the City and Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie. There were a total of 43 permits worth a combined $7,976,000.

The Residential category had both the most amount of permits as well as the highest value. The most value came from three new double permits with a combined value of $2,764,000. There were also three new single permits, which when combined, are worth $1,207,000.

In the Commercial category, there were two new permits worth a combined $2,041,000. The Miscellaneous category had three moving permits approved worth $7,000 when combined. There were also 17 plumbing permits approved, however, these don't hold value.

Year-to-date there have been 115 permits approved worth a total of $286,736,000. This eclipses the 2023 year-to-date value, where 88 permits were valued at a combined $36,161,000.
