Book worms unite at the Portage la Prairie Regional Library!

The annual book sale kicked off today, where people can pick up all kinds of books to support the library.

Head Librarian Richard Bee says the staff looks forward to this event every year.

"The annual book sale is a major fundraiser for the library itself. It usually generates typically, anywhere between 10 to 15-thousand dollars for the library," says Bee. "I believe last year it did run about two months longer than normal, so it did net a little bit extra revenue, but 10-15 is about a rough average for us."

He says they know the sale works, and they are not looking to change too much.

"We are still keeping with the format where we'll have different genres and we'll have different types of materials out at different points during the book sale," says Bee. "It runs through September so there are a couple months for people to come by to take a look. So, if you're unavailable for July and August, you still have a chance to take a look at something for September."

Funds raised will help the library bring in new books, equipment, and more.

The sale will run Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
