The talents of students from the province of Manitoba were on display at the Associated Manitoba Arts Festival in Winnipeg.

Among the winners was young Portage la Prairian, Isaac Vanstone, who placed second in the Elementary Canadian Composer category. He shares how he got to that point.

"I went to the Piano Festival (in Portage) and won at that, then I was recommended for Provincials. Then I went to Provincials and won. That's the highest it goes, for my age, at least."

He adds that his category was not limited to piano, and that he competed against 14 other students, some on piano, others playing violin, and lastly, those who performed vocal pieces.

Vanstone performed the piece Tarantelle by Clifford Poole,

He notes that the experience was a lot of fun.
