Gareth Rice out of Portage la Prairie is producing a podcast comprised of interviews with jazz musicians. He plays piano and has his own Wild Rice Quarter jazz group. He's currently in the University of Manitoba studying music.

"I also do a radio show on FM 101.5 called Canadiana Suite where I interview jazz musicians. I've been doing that for close to three years and it's been really fun. It's been one of my favourite parts of my degree."

He recently graduated from the program and acquired a Bachelor of Jazz Studies at the U of M in Jazz Piano.

"I got into music at a young age. My parents got me into music, and my piano teachers helped me greatly. The community at U of M really helped me grow as a jazz musician. The community there is really great and I've had some great teachers there. I'm really fortunate to be a part of that."

Rice says his next step in life and his career is the million dollar question. For the time being, he says he'll keep practicing.

"I'll gig around Winnipeg and get better at Winnipeg driving, because that's always something to strive for. I will also keep doing the radio show."
