It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Taylor on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the age of 78 years after a brave battle with cancer.

Larry was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan on February 26, 1944 to his mother Lillian Margaret Taylor (nee Law) and Lorne Joseph Taylor. Larry had one sibling, Brian Lawson Taylor. Growing up, Larry and his family moved around from Assiniboia to Okotoks and Longview in Alberta and then to several other places in Saskatchewan, finally settling in Rosetown. After graduating high school, Larry enrolled in the Saskatchewan Teachers College in Saskatoon in 1963-1964. He obtained his first teaching position in Harris Saskatchewan in 1964, where he met the love of his life, Linda Leah Adair. Linda and Larry were married on August 20, 1966. They had four children; Colleen Rae, John Christopher, Jordan Lorne, and Scott Joseph. Larry and Linda moved many times in their lives due to Larry's career. Larry held the position of Principal at schools in Wolseley, SK, Kenton, MB, Swan River, MB, and Portage la Prairie, MB. In 1995, Larry obtained and held the position of Superintendent/Secretary Treasurer for the Portage la Prairie School Division until his retirement in 2008, after 44 years of working in education. Larry spent much of his retirement travelling, camping and spending time with family and friends. 

Larry was predeceased by his loving wife Linda Leah (nee Adair) Taylor, his son John Christopher Taylor, brother Brian Lawson Taylor of Calgary, AB, and his parents Lillian (nee Law) and Lorne Joseph Taylor of Rosetown, SK.

He is survived by his children, Jordan (Dana), Scott and Colleen all of Portage la Prairie, MB; grandchildren, Chassidy, Lane and Quinn Taylor; great-granddaughter Gillian; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Of his life, Larry said "I have been married for 55 years and I feel I have been the luckiest man alive for having a wonderful career, beautiful wife, good friends, and great children and grand-children". Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment has taken place at Hillside Memorial Park.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Larry’s memory to the Koko Platz Recreation Club, Box 884 Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3C3.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
