In the Winnipeg Women's Soccer League last night, Portage was at home taking on the Second Division leading Strikers and in another close affair fell in a 3-1 final leaving the Blaze winless so far this season.

The Blaze were trailing 1-0 at halftime, but tied the game on a breakaway goal from Jill Fast and the contest stayed that way until about 12 minutes remaining in the game.

Blaze Coach, Bryan Mintenko, says considering that the Strikers are first in the division and haven't suffered a loss yet this season, he's pleased with how Portage competed last night. He adds they controlled the ball for much of the game and nearly pulled off the upset.

Portage will have today and tomorrow to prepare before heading to Winnipeg for a meeting with the Top Totties at 7:30 pm tomorrow night.
