The week for Smile Cookies is upon us, and the Family Resource Centre (FRC) will be the beneficiary of the funds raised.

Melissa Morrison, Executive Director for the FRC, says it's a big boost to their fundraising goals from year to year.

"We're really excited to be the recipients this year. The Smile Cookie donations go a long way in helping us fund our various programs that we offer, as we have quite a bit of fundraising to do annually. So, it's super exciting for us."

Morrison also noted how much they are looking to fundraise in any given year, suggesting they aim for between $40,000 and $50,000.

"When we do our budget, we try not to exceed fundraising 10 per cent of our annual budget, which for us usually means we're looking at trying to fundraise $40,000 or $50,000 a year."

She emphasized that if you would like cookies delivered to a business or particular class in a school in Portage la Prairie, you can reach out to the FRC and get the form filled out to have them brought in by Puppet Peter.

"He'll be at La Verendrye School on Monday, he's going to do daycares on Tuesday, Fort la Reine and North Memorial School classrooms on Wednesday, Yellowquill and Westpark School on Thursday, and Crescentview and Arthur Meighen on Friday," Morrison shared. "If parents want to send cookies to their kids' classroom, we just need to know the school name, the class name, and the number of cookies. Then just send us the amount for $18 per dozen, plus a $10 puppet delivery fee, and we can set all that stuff up."

Cookie deliveries for Monday must be scheduled by Friday, April 26. Cookies will be available from April 29 until May 3.
