Manitou RCMP are sharing a scary story of an assault at a home in Somerset from Monday afternoon.
At 1:25 p.m. on August 28, police responded to an incident where it was reported that a suspect had broken into a home, using bear spray and a chainsaw to assault a man.
Officers attended and located the victim, a 36-year-old, who had been injured. According to officials, the victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was known to the victim and fled the scene. A short time later, officers located the suspect and arrested him without incident. The RCMP notes that a mini-electric chainsaw was recovered and seized by police.
Frank Solcan, 73, has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Breaking and Entering
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Solcan was remanded into custody, and Pembina Valley RCMP continues to investigate.
