The Central Plains RCMP has released the weekly report for the period between May 6 and May 12. The report covers Portage la Prairie, Treherne, Amaranth and the surrounding Rural Municipalities.

On May 6, at around 9:40 a.m., Portage RCMP received a report that there was a person at a business near Portage la Prairie making threats to staff. Officers located the suspect and placed him under arrest without incident. The 22-year-old man from Portage faces charges of Uttering Threats. He was released on conditions to appear in court at a later date.

In a separate case, Portage RCMP received a call sometime overnight from May 10 to the next morning, that a vehicle was rummaged through in the 500 block of St George Avenue in Portage la Prairie. The culprit made off with some documents and a few small items. The RCMP are reminding people to ensure that all doors are locked and not to keep any valuables in your vehicles. Calls for police service totalled 300, which is an increase from the 249 calls the previous week.

Under Traffic Violations, there were 78 Highway Traffic Act reports, 3 reports of Vehicle Collisions and 3 reports of Impaired Drivers. 

Crimes Against Person reports included 7 Assaults, 5 Assaults with a Weapon, as well as 13 reports of Uttering Threats. 

Crimes Against Property detailed 15 Thefts, 2 Thefts of a Motor Vehicle, 6 reports of Breaking and Entering and 9 calls regarding Mischief. 

Other statistics included 51 calls for Other Criminal Investigations and 69 for "Other Police Activity," meaning False Alarms, Suspicious People or Vehicles, and Assistance Given. 

The day that saw the most action from the RCMP was Thursday, May 9, which included 57 calls for service.
