The Community Foundation of Portage and District (CFPD) has helped yet another non-profit organization be one step closer to reaching their goal.

$35,000 from CFPD has been awarded to the Oakville Community Club to go toward their new community centre.

President of the club, Eric Delong, says they are grateful for the continued support.

"It's a project that will, hopefully, touch not just our town but the larger community here, too. We're currently doing some fundraising toward the finish line here for the project to come in early summer. Yeah, every dollar counts."

Delong says they are making some brochures to hand out possibly before Christmas so that the community can look at the project.

He also said that, as the president, the continuing stream of funds coming in is exciting, noting that this is one of the more significant projects the community has put on.

"Not only the size of it, but its impact on the community makes it extremely exciting. Everything is going well on the construction study right now, too, which is nice to see."
