Three local organizations are getting a financial boost from Tuesday's Fuel Good Day.

Homestead Co-op Operations Manager Chris Theoret hopes you waited until Tuesday to fill up your vehicle with gasoline -- or diesel -- to include your financial assistance.

Chris Theoret (photo by Randy Lilley)"With every purchase of fuel made through the Coo-op Homestead gas bar locations, Homestead Co-op will donate 10 cents a litre to three community groups," says Theoret. "They are Tupper Street Family Resource Centre, Special Olympics Manitoba Central Region, and Sprucedale Industries (in Austin)."

He explains the program is taking place throughout Western Canada today with all participating retail outlets. Theoret notes Homestead Co-op is particularly focused on helping these three local groups. He notes, last year, they helped out Service for Seniors, Parks Committee and the Library in Carman. The year before that were ROK, PAWS and Sunset Palliative Care.

"We're hoping to exceed the $10,000-mark," adds Theoret. "That's roughly where we've been for the last few years. With the combination of the Carman gas bar, it should exceed that dollar amount for sure. Every purchase made contributes to the total."
