I hope you had a great Summer and enjoyed all the lush green grass, and maybe even hit the beach a few times!  There's still time left for some fun outdoor activities, but with Fall (excuse the cliche) soon  falling in our laps, it might be a good time to make the best of the last little bit of Summer we've got.

We all know what comes after Fall, so I won't even bother uttering the "W" word.

Here's the thing --  the leaves are a little ahead of the season and are already changing colours and falling to the ground (like that Billy Talent song)!  A pretty display, no doubt about it, but also a sign that there's some work to do!

The City of Portage has an awesome Fall Waste Collection Program, that gives you a chance to get some of your leaves, grass trimmings and other yard waste  taken away without having to haul it yourself!

Check out some more details:

FALL YARD WASTE COLLECTION

-The program started Monday, September 16th, and will run for 6 collection cycles

-Your yard waste needs to be in clear plastic recycling bags, but the City of Portage la Prairie urges you to use brown paper compostable bags

-There's no limit on the amount of bags you can have collected, but an 18kg (40lbs) weight restriction applies to each bag

-Have your yard waste on your curb by 7:00AM on your regular collection day

...What is yard waste...?

"Yard waste is defined as leaves, grass and garden waste, excluding any tree trimmings. Tree trimmings must always be bundled in four foot sections and have a waste collection tag affixed, or be taken to the Tree Disposal Site."  -City of Portage la Prairie
