Due to excessive snowfall, Christmas tree removal services in Portage La Prairie have been delayed.

City Councillor Melissa Draycott explains city crews have been busy clearing large snow banks from street corners to make crossing the road easier for pedestrians as well as safer for people driving around corners. Because of this, Draycott notes, not everyone's trees were picked up before the final removal date. She explains this isn't a problem.

"In light of all the snow removal that's happened the city crews will continue to pick up Christmas trees until they have [all] been picked up."

She adds if you have a tree hidden under a snow bank and are able to get it out the city will pick it up and bring it to their tree recycling area.
