Jeremey Leipsic had 3 goals and an assist

The Portage Terriers continued their hot play last night winning their 14th MJHL game in a row. The Terriers dispatched the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 8-2, with forward Jeremey Leipsic recording a hat trick.

A solid first for Portage was capped off with two late goals. Leipsic scored the first on the power play by cleaning up a goal mouth scramble. Michael Knaub fired a beautiful pass moments later to Riley Thiessen who walked in and sniped one high glove side. The Terriers had the edge in shots 11-5.

The Terriers came out gunning in the second period with Leipsic extending their lead early. His second of the night was from a nice Brad Bowles pass. Brad would get his first of the night moments later as he tapped one home as a Wolverine penalty expired. Shawn Bowles ended Greg Harney's night in net scoring the 5th Terrier goal on just 15 shots. Troy Martyniuk would enter the game but would get roughed up seconds later by Jeremey Leipsic who completed the hat trick. Before the second was over Brock Paddock for the Wolverines would get them on the board by having one deflect off numerous players on its way to the net.

The game opened up in the third period when a Wolverine penalty provided 2 full minutes of 4 on 4 action. With the extra ice, both Chase Brakel and Brad Bowles were able to find the back of the net. Tyler Ham would bounce in a goal late in the period for the Wolverines but it would be too little too late.

Nathan Park picked up the win in net for Portage stopping 18 of 20. Portage is back in action on Sunday when they host Dauphin at 6:30. The Terriers are hoping to tie the franchise record of 15 wins in a row.
