The Portage Terriers won their 10th game in a row tonight, as they defeated the Swan Valley Stampeders 5-2 in Manitoba Junior Hockey League action at the PCU Centre.

The Terriers didn't get the start they were hoping for, as the Stampeders jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead. Terriers' AP Chase Faulkner continued to shine as a call up player, netting the first goal of the night for the dogs. Chase Brakel made it 2-1 Portage on a 2-on-1 with 50 seconds to go in the first.

The second period was all Portage, as they looked more collected and composed on the ice. Terriers' forward Michael Knaub made it 3-1 with a beautiful back-hand goal, off a great pass from Cody Lightfoot. They continued to press in the second half, and Adam Wowryk scored back-to-back goals giving the Terriers a 5-1 lead going into the final period.

Swan Valley was able to net another one near the start of the period -- but that's as close as they'd get -- as the Portage Terriers held out for the win.

Terriers' defenceman Cody Haiskenen talks about the team's recent streak.

"It feels great you know. All the guys are clicking, and everyone's happy, we just want to keep rolling with it. You know we're keeping it simple, working hard, cycle down low and get it to the net to find the rebounds. It doesn't have to be pretty."

Michael Knaub had a goal and an assist for the Terriers. He says home or away, they're out to win.

"It's always nice playing at home, we've got the home crowd here and stuff. But I think we play good on the road and here too, it doesn't really matter where we play... We just have to show up and get the win."

The Terriers are back in action Sunday when they host the Neepawa Natives at the PCU Centre.
