Everything was going right for Portage last night as they pounded the Dauphin Kings 10-2. Nick Henry had a hat trick and Brad Bowles had a 4 point night. Terrier head coach and GM Blake Spiller says the addition of Shawn Bowles back to that top line really helped out. "We made some good plays and got some nice goals. Obviously the addition of Shawn back in the lineup and Nick gives us just that little bit more balance. (We) made it tough on them tonight"

It wasn't the start the Terriers were hoping for as Dauphin got on the board in the first two minutes. Brayden MacDonald tied things up though two minutes later on the power play at the side of the net. The offense for Portage started to get rolling as Nick Henry scored a beautiful one timer off the rush. The Terriers outshot Dauphin 22-6 in the first.

The Terrier offense came to life in the second period as Portage scored 3 goals in just over 3. Nick Henry scored the first off of a passing play from Brad and Shawn Bowles on the power play. Macdonald scored his second on the power play finishing off the play at the side of the net. Riley Thiessen hit Brad Bowles with a beautiful seeing eye pass to which he tapped it home for the third of the period. This spelled the end for Brandon Holtby who was pulled from the Dauphin net after letting in 5 goals on 26 shots.

Moments later Shawn Bowles got in on the scoring on the new goaltender Jarrod Schamerhorn. It was a 2 on 1 with his brother Brad. Brett Orr would score off the rush with a penalty coming to make it 7-1 after 2 periods.

It kept going in for Portage as the third period got going. Weston had a point shot that found its way through traffic, Stanley sniped one off the rush, and Nick Henry completed the hat trick. Dauphin would add one with less than two minutes to play but it would be too little too late.

Nathan Park had a quiet night in net for Portage stopping 18 of 20 to pick up the win.

The Terriers are back on the road tonight against Neepawa and Spiller knows they can't take them for granted. "They are always a tough team in that rink... hopefully we can get off to a good start and hopefully things will go our way."
