The Pink Ladies are holding their bi-annual 'Snow Ride For a Cure' today to raise money to help fight breast cancer.

Committee member Tammy Hammersley says the event is important because breast cancer affects so many people.

"The ride is to raise awareness for breast cancer and to, hopefully, help find a cure at some point. Breast Cancer touches just about everybody's life at some point, and you can see by the amount of support that we get from the registered riders, and by all of our sponsors and people who pledge the ladies, that breast cancer is important to everybody around"

She says, other than the small registration fee, the event is totally free to all of the riders. They get a lunch, supper and a gift bag with some Pink Ladies apparel, and Hammersly notes that's thanks to their great sponsors. She says the ride was made possible thanks to their generosity.

"We can't thank our sponsors and everybody that contributed to this ride enough. A super special thank-you to Club Snow for keeping the trail in nice shape for us, and to Hummer Ventures. They went out in the last couple of days and scraped up snow for us, so thank you to all of those guys."

Hammersly says 78 riders registered this year which is great to see. Today's ride goes this morning at 11:30 from behind the Canad Inns, and Hammersly says although the registration period is over, anyone can come along for the ride.

"We encourage friends and family to ride along with the registered riders. We also have support riders, so if anybody breaks down they'll be there to help."

The Pink Ladies raised $47,777 last time they held the ride. Click Here for more information on on the Pink Ladies.
