The Central Plains Capitals shutout the Eastman Selects 4-0 in game 1 of their Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League Quarter Final match-up at the BDO Centre tonight.

After a scoreless first period, the Capitals opened up the scoring late in the second. Emily Upgang scored with 4:30 to go in the period, and Sheridan Oswald netted the Caps' second goal of the night with just 14 seconds to go in the frame.

Oswald added another in the 3rd to incread the Caps' lead to 3. forward Amy Klippenstein also scored an empty net goal in the Caps' victory. McKenna Wild stopped all 16 shots she faced between the pipes for Central Plains. She was impressed with her teammates' effort.

"It was a really physical game, a lot of penalties. I think the girls worked hard, and it was a well deserved win."

The Caps are back at it Saturday when they visit Eastman for game two in St. Adolphe. Wild gives her thoughts on what it'll take to win on the road.

"The same thing. Determination, and hard work -- it's playoffs -- you have to give everything because you can lose."

Game 2 is Saturday at 8 p.m.
