Two suspicious men trespassed on a rural property on Road 64 in the RM of WestLake-Gladstone.

Last night (Feb. 21), Spruce Plains RCMP were called and informed that a vehicle with two men had driven onto the property, who struck and killed the homeowner’s dog and the vehicle became  stuck in the ditch. One of the men went to the residence and asked for help to get the vehicle out of the ditch. The homeowners became suspicious and called police. One man left the residence.

The licence plate on the vehicle was checked and found to be stolen.

Officers responded and located the stolen vehicle. The other man was still inside the vehicle and was arrested without incident.

A search of the property was conducted and the second suspect was found hiding in an outbuilding on the property.

A 28-year-old man from Sandy Bay First Nation is facing charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Failing to Comply and Obstructing a Peace Officer.

A 37-year-old man from Sandy Bay First Nation is facing a charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

RCMP continues to investigate.
