The Portage Collegiate Trojans are playing their 5th game of the Winnipeg High School Football League season, striving for their first win at home. Head Coach Donald Burrell says he's been happy with the effort the team's been putting in so far this season, but they'll be working toward improving both offence and defence.

"I think we just need to work a little bit better at becoming a cohesive offensive line," says Burrell. "I mean, we're not in sync right now where I'd like for us to be. The things that I want to see us work more and get better at offensively is the offensive line and I'd like to see us get better at defence."

Burrell feels their biggest strength as a team right now is their running game, and they'll need to work on playing the ball in the air.
Burrell explains the team they'll be playing today is the Elmwood Giants, and it might be a challenge for them as Elmwood runs some plays they're not too familiar with.

"They run a different kind of backfield set where they line their receivers up in the backfield," Burrell explains. "So that's going to be something new that we're going to have to adjust to. They have a pretty big fullback and they run him a lot."

Burrell hopes the Trojans can stay on top of their tackling and stop as many running plays as they can.

The game takes place today at 4:30 at Portage Collegiate.
