The Table for 600 is returning, a fundraiser for Central Plains Cancer Services, will make its return to Portage la Prairie in June. The event has been so popular in the past that you need to be chosen from a lottery to secure a table.

Central Plains Cancer Services executive director Sharilyn Knox says they holding the event every two years.

"What you need to do, if you want to go, is put your name in the running to get a table. They are tables of eight, so we tell people to enter, but that's one entry, but all eight people should do the same. They can all enter for the chance."

She notes they will reach out to you and inform you if you are one of the lucky ones to get a table.

"It's being held again on the Field of Hope. So, we're doing it at Republic Park once again on Diamond #9. It was such a great venue that we want to do it again there one more time."

In the past, the event has been held on the now-replaced bridge over Crescent Lake, on the road beside the lake in Island Park and on the ball diamond at Rotary Republic Park. Many supporters have been to all three events and people have really gotten into the spirit and theme of the dinner by dressing up and decorating their tables. The first three have generated thousands of dollars for the not-for-profit organization.

You don't have to wait every two years to show your support for CPCS though. Next week on March 14th and 15th, it is the annual radiothon powered by Simplot. Information and ways to donate can be found here.
