The Town of Stonewall's council has officially hired a CAO. They were on the search for someone to fill the position since the departure of former CAO Anne Burns in December. Mayor Lockie McLean says while they interviewed many good candidates, they decided to give the position to assistant CAO Doreen Steg, who had been acting CAO since Burns left.

"We went out and we looked for the best possible CAO we could find in terms of trying to recruit, we shortlisted it down to some great candidates. At the end of the day, we looked at what we already had, someone who's been doing the job, and doing a great job, it was unanimous on council that we offer her the position of CAO."

McLean says Steg already has in-depth knowledge of the town's needs, but adds she also has a great working relationship with the staff, council, and citizens in the town.

"When you have a person in a senior level, in a management level, you want a person that other people will want to be around, and that other people will want to work with. She's that type of person. She's young enough that she'll be able to serve the people of Stonewall for well-over a decade to come."

He also says she provides a great level of customer service to the folks in the community, as well as the financial knowledge needed for the position.
