The President of Club Snow in Portage says the snowfall warning is a good thing.

Phil Neudorf explains groomers need about six to eight inches of snow to properly prepare a base for snowmobile trails.

But while the season has been relatively dry, he admits the arrival of snow isn't necessarily behind schedule.  Historically, trails have been groomed closer to the end of December.

Even if the snow isn't delivered locally, Neudorf doesn't anticipate many disappointed members.  He says the Manitoba snow pass offers a broad area of snowmobiling which extends into Saskatchewan.

However, Neudorf admits there are areas of concern due to thin ice.
